Wow - what a busy weekend!

Sophie had two birthday parties to go to this weekend. On Saturday we all went to my friend Reni's daughter Willa's 1st birthday party. It was a fabulous brunch gathering with delicious food and great people and Willa is just the cutest little thing. We felt very honored to be invited and very happy to help celebrate such a big milestone with such a sweet family.

On Sunday, we drove out to Reading (far!) to attend the birthday party of Sophie's cousin CJ. The party was at this great place called The Works and after the kids had pizza and cake (and ran around maniacally in the little party room) they got to play games in the big gameroom. Sophie had fun visiting with her cousin Madee and to help celebrate CJ's birthday. We were happy to see Jim's cousins and then as a special bonus we stopped in Pottstown on the way home for chicken pot pie dinner with Nanny and Aunt Pat and Sophie's cousins Caely and Colin. What a great day and night with family!!

Photo Shoot with Cousin Liana and Happy Birthday Dee Ree

Last Friday, Sophie had a photo shoot with her new cousin Liana. It was quite a challenge getting an 18 month old and a 4 week old to be looking at the camera and in the same shot but we managed to get some cute shots and it was a lot of fun. The final result was a nice gift for Dee Ree's birthday (Oct. 3rd). We celebrated at GGMom's house and had a lovely time. Happy Birthday Dee Ree!! You're the best Dee Ree in the whole world! We love you!

Sophie's 1st Haircut

(Don't worry Moms and Grandmoms... Yes, I know this is a dangerous thing to let a small child put a plastic sheet on their face. It wasn't a bag of course but I did take it from her and won't let it happen again though I did have to catch it this time on camera.)

Sophie got a new do!!! She had clearly been bothered by the long hair in her eyes and was constantly pushing it out of her face so I took her to a place that specializes in kids haircuts and we got her bangs cut last week. I was sad when I saw it because she did definitely look different and not like her baby self anymore but it's totally cute and she is working it something fierce. This was the day we got it cut.

On the new word update she also says: froggy, man, Sarah, flowers, crayons (but it sounds like "crans"), markers, cap, bath, brush, ears, face and more. She also has been saying more two word phrases such as "I sit" or "I coloring" and it's almost hard to notice she's saying them but she definitely is saying them. I went back and was looking at a video recently and clear as a bell she say "I coloring" in the middle of coloring. Cool, huh???

Recent adventures and of course, more words!

We've had a fun couple of days with a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo with Nanny, Aunt Pat, and Caley on Friday and then on Monday we had a trip to Linvilla Orchards with Dee Ree!! All sorts of good times in the nice fall weather...

Of course, the new words are still rapid fire. More new words include: couch, videos (this isn't so new but I'm not sure I mentioned it before), shoes, fork (but it sounds like f*ck so this one really threw us at first!), circle, Dee Ree, pumpkin, bath, bagel, hair, socks, doggy, arms and more!! She's a walking parrot these days!

Happy 18 Month Birthday Angel

Today Sophie is 18 months old. Do you believe it? It seems like a real milestone for some reason and I'm just so excited at the little girl she is becoming. She fascinates me with her language acquisition skills and her growing independence. We now play a game at dinner called "Sophie Says" where she does an action (like putting her hands on her head or sticking her thumb in her mouth) and we do it along with her until she changes the action. It's really fun and I love watching her make up new actions and dictate the sequence of what we should do. Last night we had Nanny, Aunt Pat, and Caely over for dinner after a wonderful trip to the Philadelphia Zoo and we were all playing along and cracking up with Sophie. She really kept the game going and I could tell she was enjoying the rush of power that came with making five silly adults follow her every whim.

On the word front, some (but certainly not all) of the new words she has been saying lately include: Santa, gears, arms, feet, nose, eyes, happy, Thomas (but it sounds more like Thombas), hair, trash, umbrella, hi, bye, Chenny (but it sounds like Tennah). Earlier this week she said what I believe was her first two word sentence, "More cheese." That's my girl!!!

We love you like crazy sweet little princess!! We can't imagine life without you and watching you grow is one of the biggest joys of our life!
