Outing to Smith Playhouse

Today we went to Smith Playhouse in the Park which is this most amazing playground with a "giant" slide a new totlot and other fabulous play equipment - and that's just all what's on the outside!! This was a little outing with our Lansdowne Playgroup and we had a very fun, though brief, time there. Sophie got pretty wiped out real quick and we ended up not even staying to picnic with our friends but we had a fabulous time anyway and gosh, didn't she just look too cute in her shades and pigtails?

Dancing with DeeRee

We had a lovely visit from DeeRee on Friday night and Sophie finally put on her awesome tu-tu that her Aunt Theresa and Uncle Bubba and cousin Liana gave her for her birthay. She and DeeRee were two prima ballerinas!!

Visits with Nanas

Sophie got to visit with both her nanny and her Nana Mary last week! And, she tried on her new princess outfit that her Aunt Lacey sent for her birthday. Isn't she a sweet little princess?

Having fun at "Old McDonalds" with Nana Mary. We always meet Nana Mary at McDonalds because she knows where to find it and her allergies prevent her from coming here. Sophie LOVES McDonalds but she now calls it "Old MacDonalds."

Nanny, you can sit on my lap!

Every good princess has a dragon sidekick, right?

35 weeks

Yesterday marked 35 weeks of Emily being on the inside. This is a very good thing. I'll be real happy to make it to full-term (37 weeks in very short time now). Here are some recent belly shots marking 34 weeks. Not sure if I was bigger last pregnancy or this one but either way, there is definitely a baby the size of a cantaloupe in there!!! ( ~ 19-20 inches and 5.5 lbs!!).

In more Emily news, we are making headway on the 2nd nursery. Her furniture arrived yesterday and we are working to clear out the guest room and get it ready for the assembled furniture to be placed. Our washing machine decided to die on us this weekend (right when I was catching up on a whole backlog of infrequently used items) so I can't yet wash all the newborn stuff and baby gear items until the new washer gets here (on Thurs). but soon enough, Emily will have lots of wonderful and clean newborn clothes from her big sis to wear. I decided to pack my bag for the birth center just in case so that's pretty much ready, too. Now we just need to install the newborn carseat and finish her room in the next few days/weeks and we should be pretty much all set. Sophie definitely seems to get it that there is this person Emily coming. Sophie talks about Emily's bed (the bassinet) and gets to listen to Emily's heartbeat at the midwives office during each prenatal visit. Beyond that I'm not sure that she gets that Emily is in mommy's belly and that she'll be coming to live with us forever soon. But I guess soon enough that will all become very real to her (and us, too!!)

Princess Bathing Suit

Sophie discovered a princess bathing suit in a bag of clothes we got from our friends and made me put it on her tonight. It was just too cute. Came with a little tutu which we put on and then she wanted her black dress shoes on of course and danced around the room. I think ballet lessons are not too far off in our future...

Sophie at play

We are happy to report that Jim is done his week of being on-call and the big deployment he had at work over the weekend. This is a big relief to all!

Sophie is doing good and having fun playing outside when the weather has been so nice. Monday she had a good time playing in her "sleigh" (even though she never wanted anything to do with it when we had 2 feet of snow!!).

On the Emily front, we're getting closer and closer to her arrival and starting to focus in earnest on preparing the house (and ourselves) for her debut into the world. I had my 34 week checkup (34 weeks!!!) at the Birth Center on Monday and I'm thrilled to report that Emmy has changed position again and is in the head down vertical position. The midwife said her head is down toward my pelvis and she sort of spins around so anytime I feel a kick or movement it could be anything (butt, feet, arms, etc) because she has such a range of spinning positions now. Anyway, this is all a big relief to me because at my 32 week check-up she way in a "transverse lie" meaning she was horizontal across my belly. The midwife said if she didn't move by 34 weeks, they'd ask me to wear a girdle to get her to move. This would be torture for me. Good girl, Emily!! Listening well to Mommy's requests already, huh??

A Saturday with Sophie

So this morning, I turn around and Sophie is biting on the handheld mirror that i gave her to look at herself in with her pretty earrings (clip-on Peeps earrings she got in her easter basket). She didn't want to stop biting it clearly but I had to take it away (you know, what with potential broken glass shards being what they are and all). So in protest, she proceeded to walk over to a painted black wood cabinet we have and lick it. Seriously, she licked it twice. What's up with that????

Easter 2010

It was a pretty exciting Easter for Sophie as this was the first year she truly got to enjoy the thrill and excitement of easter candy. She woke up to find her basket and had jelly beans and chocolate bunny for breakfast. The candy kept on coming with M&Ms and then later lollipops and more candy at Aunt Pat's house. I'm afraid today was a massive let down when she was not allowed to eat jelly beans and chocolate bunny for breakfast again. This is apparently very hard for a 2 year old to understand. But, we survived the day after Easter 2010 and she had a great day of outside playing in this beautiful weather and a wonderful visit with her "brothers" (her god-brothers Issac and Adam) and Heather and Christian. Hope all our family and friends had a great Easter. Sorry I didn't get to make the phone calls like we try to do each year but the day just got away from us with all the activity.

It's been a while since I posted videos so I thought I'd post a few random moments from the last few weeks. Enjoy!!
